Ferrell’s Clothing Store Has Moved to a New Location

After just seven years at their previous site, Ferrell’s clothing store has opened its doors in a fresh new building located near the Grand Teton Mall. The well-established apparel retailer made this significant change on Monday, setting up shop in Centennial Square at 2261 East 17th Street, which was formerly occupied by Seagull Book.

Dana Wright, who co-owns the store with his wife, Teneal, shared with EastIdahoNews.com some of the motivations behind this relocation. "We were in search of a slightly larger space. The new building offers more room for sales while having reduced backroom space," Dana explained.

The Wrights transitioned from a 5,500-square-foot facility at 3194 South 25th East to this new, 5,400-square-foot venue. Interestingly, Dana noted that their previous location had a more spacious backroom compared to the sales floor, prompting the need for a change.

But here's where it gets controversial... A key factor influencing their decision was the accessibility for customers. Dana revealed that he experienced a decline in business at the old spot because many potential customers found the U-turn and limited entrance to the strip inconvenient. "This new address provides better traffic flow with a stoplight and multiple entry and exit points," he said. "It simply makes it easier for people to access our store."

Additionally, Kristi Eldridge, Ferrell’s in-house tailor operating her own alterations business called In Stitches Alterations, has moved to the new location alongside the Wrights. "We created a dedicated room for her right on the other side of the wall," Dana added.

Over the years, Ferrell's has established itself as a go-to destination for young men preparing for missions with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While they remain renowned for their men’s dress suits, Dana also hinted at future plans to introduce suit rentals—a service frequently requested by customers. By expanding their offerings, he hopes to better cater to their clientele's needs.

The Wrights initially took over their prior building on South 25th East in 2019, but before that, Ferrell's had been a fixture at 417 West Broadway for an impressive 68 years. The store's journey began back in 1950 when Dave Anderson opened Ferrell’s in what was then JCPenney’s. Prior to 1950, the store operated several blocks away, where Destinations Inn now stands. In the 1980s, Teneal’s father, Brent Tueller, acquired the business from Anderson, and in 2018, Teneal and Dana became the proud owners.

In 2019, local contractor Jayce Powell purchased the Broadway building from the Wrights and remodeled it. After remaining vacant for several years, it has recently been sold again. An employee from Venture One Properties, the firm that managed the sale, confirmed that the building is now associated with Rare Earth Enterprises LLC, owned by Justin and Valerie Miller, who acquired it in September. Valerie mentioned that plans for the establishment are still in the early phases, and further details will be shared soon. EastIdahoNews.com promises to provide an in-depth report once all information is finalized.

Meanwhile, Dana expresses enthusiasm about the possibilities that lie ahead in their new setting. "We’re now located next to Work Wear House, where customers can find work apparel. We specialize in men’s formal wear, and right next to us is Bob’s Indoor Golf, which seems to attract a lot of guys. It’s fantastic to be surrounded by other men’s stores, creating a shopping hub for our community."

The Wrights collaborated with Randy Waters at SVN High Desert Commercial to secure this new space and are planning a grand re-opening event sometime in April. Ferrell’s Clothing Store will continue to operate with their established hours: Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
